inspo board for jennifer's style for the film "jennifer's body" (2oo9). ph. katia stano .
"Mood boards can be a major part of the planning process for costume designers, and Stano went all out to illustrate the contrast between Jennifer’s girlish outfits and her demonic prowess. Some inspiration imagery included a box of chocolates with boys’ heads on them, representing Jennifer’s voracious appetite for her male classmates, as well as My Little Ponys and Francisco Goya’s painting Saturn Devouring His Son. There were also some celebs of the 2000s era, such as Bridget Marquardt and Kendra Wilkinson from the reality show The Girls Next Door and Sabrina Bryan from The Cheetah Girls. Another familiar face? NYLON tear sheets from none other than NYLON magazine were also featured on the boards." --marie lodi for nylon

Hey! I really love your drawing and style!
And story of little sniper- bro- it was so great
My small question is if you have any favorite painting that you want or if you already did drew as TF2 characters
That is all, wish you a great day/night! :]
Thank you so much!!
So if I understand correctly, you're asking if I want some famous academic painting to be redrawn as s tf2 piece? Yeah, I've thought about that! I personally haven't done anything like this but I know some artists do and I love it!
Here, "Saturn Devouring His Son" by Goya or Rubens ↓↓↓
I want somebody to make this with Spy and Scout, I think it would be badass...
Spy, just like Saturn (Chronos) trying to eliminate his own child out of jealousy and fear that the said child will overthrow him someday; no matter how much Spy pretends to be Better, there's no denying that Scout is actually a much better person than him. Maybe not a big person now but definitely will overshadow him someday, exposing all of Spy's faults and weaknesses: he's a nobody without his suit and mask and his pretending skills, meanwhile Scout is fully person, his own, his genuine self much brighter than the mask.
Spy hasn't accepted himself, hasn't accepted his role as a father, so now, manifestation of both, wearing Scout's face, feels like a real existential danger to him.
So devouring must help with that?
Probably not gonna draw that though lol

Day 11: meet cute
Masterlist flufftober 🎀
A special one, I really enjoyed writing it. Reblog if you liked it!
Spencer walked through the gallery in silence, paying attention to all the paintings and trying to give them his own interpretation. For some strange reason, being in those places relaxed him greatly and right now it was what he needed most: a well-deserved respite after a long day of work.
“Good night,” he greeted a young woman, who was attentively looking at a painting.
The woman he saw couldn't have been more than thirty years old and her clothing was... how to put it? Something eccentric. All the clothes were vibrant tones and she wore a woven bag with uneven parts, who knows if it was on purpose or not.
“Good night,” you murmured just as kindly, keeping your hands in the pockets of your colorful jacket.
The painting in front of you was, in short, something grotesque. But it wasn't in a bad way, it had a certain special touch that made it… Spencer couldn't even describe it. It was very good, but to some extent uncomfortable to look at. Almost like a ritualistic crime scene that he was so used to: beautiful, but at the same time terrifying.
"Do you like it?"
“Huh?” the man asked, fearing he had misheard the girl next to him. She nodded toward the exhibit and her brain filled in the blanks. “The painting? Yes, I think it's very good. I'm afraid I'm not a great connoisseur of artistic currents, but from a very point of view this could be part of The Black Paintings, Francisco de Goya's collection”
“I know them,” you said happily. “My favorite is that one about Saturn devouring his son. You know, the one where they're eating a…” you started to say, making signs with your hands that he understood immediately.
“I think art is very subjective, like everything in the world. Some people may consider the Mona Lisa a masterpiece and others may appreciate more the style of Van Gogh or the cubism of Picasso and they are all right. Each person enjoys art things that reflect the content of their soul and I think that is the beautiful thing about paintings, don't you think?
“You know a lot for someone who is not knowledgeable about art” you smiled, feeling captivated by the way the stranger next to you expressed himself.
“Actually I say that I am not a connoisseur because I don’t want to offend those who are. I've only read a couple of books on the subject and... well, I love coming to museums, but that's all”
“Honestly, I think it's very ugly,” you said suddenly, turning your head slightly to observe the painting “It looks a little strange on the bottom, whoever did it should improve their technique a little.”
Spencer felt strange hearing such a cruel comment coming from a person who seemed to be sweet, but he figured you would have your reasons for holding that opinion. He considered leaving there but his attempt was interrupted by another presence, this time a man dressed in an elegant suit who approached you.
“Miss Y/L/N” he greeted you cordially, while you shook his hand “I see you came to appreciate our exhibition, do you like the light we put there? Does it help the colors of the work or do you want us to change it to a warmer one?”
“Oh, don't worry Frank. I like that one, it makes it look gloomy” you answered nonchalantly “You just should put it somewhere else, I'm not very proud of this one in particular”
"What are you talking about? Many people liked it. Isn't it good, gentleman?” he asked, turning to Spencer who was watching the two of them curiously.
“It's beautiful,” he confessed. He actually thought that, he wasn't saying it out of commitment or anything, and his response made you smile sheepishly.
"Stop. Everything is perfect here, thank you for giving it a home in your gallery”
“And there will be more spaces in the future, think about it,” the man murmured, squeezing your shoulder warmly and friendly. “Have a good night, excuse me.”
“Goodbye, Frank.”
The two of you watched the man walk down the hallway until he got lost in a turn and then the agent turned his attention to you.
“So you're an artist?”
“I try that” you laughed. He took a look at you and then at the picture in front of you, as if he had a hard time believing that you were the creator, of course due to the difference in styles that both elements had “But I like that people don't know, so I can hear honest opinions. And I appreciate yours, you are very kind.”
"I only say what I see"
“Would it be very bold of me if I asked you to be my model one day?” you asked cautiously, hoping not to scare him with your request.
"A model?"
“I really like your jaw,” you exclaimed, pointing a finger in the air at the line you were talking about. “And the way your hair falls. They are nice to paint”
“Well, I…I would be flattered,” Spencer said, not knowing how to react to what you had just said. Something like that had never been suggested to him and he felt strange, but excited at the same time.
“Do you want to write me your number?”
“I can give you my card,” he stammered, digging in his briefcase so he could give you the piece of paper. When he extended it to you, you analyzed it with curiosity.
“Dr. Spencer Reid. FBI” you read, quite impressed “So we both got a surprise today, huh?”
"Definitely"
“I'll call you,” you promised, pocketing the card warily and rewarding him with one of yours. They were simpler with hand-painted details and with fewer titles, but it would be useful for him to contact you “And who knows, maybe the next time you come it will be you who is in the gallery.”
Spencer blushed at the thought and smiled at you, wondering how possible that was. You responded to the smile with pleasure, because unintentionally you had just found the one who would permanently become your muse.

First week, 2-8 September 2024: RUST
details & ref under cut
Francisco Goya is a fascinating man with two very distinct styles. He was a patreon of the Spanish court until he fell to illness. He then turned to a recluse and his paintings became dark in both sense of the term. Some of his works that hugely inspire me; Saturn Devouring One of His Sons, The Colossus, Hanibal victorious contemplates Italy from the Alps, The Arrest of Christ, Still Life With Golden Beam, Fire at Night, Incantation, Witches in the Air, Brigand Stripping a Woman, Brigand Murdering a Woman & Plague Hospital.

Queening The Pawn - Act 2 Part 1
QTP has returned!!! Now back to our regularly scheduled charged conversations in the crypt.
Read from the beginning
Act 2: Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3 - Part 4 - Part 5 - Part 6 - Part 7 - Part 8 - Part 9 - Part 10
(ID in alt and under cut)
ID: 1a. Close up on Guillermos eye, swollen red from crying himself to sleep, as it flutters open. 1b. Guillermo sits up in his bed under the stairs, wide-eyed and rumpled, still wearing his collared shirt from the night before. He has a cube bookshelf as a nightstand, which has a lamp, a yoo-hoo with a pink sticky note, and his glasses on top. In the shelves below: the interview with the vampire series, a few notebooks, a buffy vampire Funko pop, various unlit candles, and the vest he had been wearing crumpled up and half on the floor. 1c. Close up on his glasses, laid out neatly, and the yoo-hoo, likely now warm, on the nightstand. We can now read the sticky note on the bottle, on which someone had clearly had trouble spelling Guillermos name. It says: "for Gee (crossed out) Jui (crossed out) you". In the background, Guillermo clutches his blankets and turns his head toward the doorway offscreen, looking a bit lost as memories from the previous night flash behind him in grayscale (Nandor dropping to his knees, threatening Nandor with a stake, Nandor's desperate expression, the words "but it didn't work").
2a. Later, now dressed in a patterned sweater and hair still messy but hastily combed, Guillermo stands in the hall in front of the door to Nandor's crypt. He frowns and pauses, hand held out uncertainly toward the handle. In the background is a small table with half melted candles and a small painting that looks like a vampiric version of "Saturn devouring his son". 2b. Close up as Guillermo looks to the left, eyes still tired and red-rimmed. 2c. Shot from over Guillermo's shoulder as he stares down the hall towards the front door, which stands like a bright red beacon luring him forward. Behind Guillermo's head, another memory flashes in greyscale: himself collapsing into Nandor's embrace as Nandor begs, "Right now, I am afraid. So you must stay. My dear Guillermo..." 2d. Shot facing Guillermo again as he pulls his fist to his chest and exhales a bracing breath, eyes closed and brow furrowed in determination. 2e. Without opening his eyes, Guillermo screws up his face as if bracing for a blow and reaches forward to open the door before he can change his mind.
3a. Shot from inside the room as Guillermo cracks the door halfway and leans in slightly, looking apprehensive. He calls out, "Mas- Nandor? It's nightfall..." 3b. Reverse shot of Nandor, awake and standing in front of an open wardrobe as he ties a leather belt around his waist. He is dressed a bit more plainly in only two layers, his usual cloak or jacket either lain aside or not yet put on. His hair is pulled back in it's normal style, but a bit sloppily, some hairs escaping the bun and tangles left behind. He whips his head up in shock as Guillermo enters the room, locking their gazes, and Guillermo lets out a surprised little "Oh!" 3c. Shot over Nandor's shoulder as Guillermo opens the door fully and begins to step into the room, noting, "You're...up already." with wide eyes. Nandor, haughty expression in profile, spits back "Yes. I am perfectly capable of getting myself out of my own coffin, you know!" Guillermo immediately replies, "I know." 3d. Repeat of previous panel, both of them now silent and looking awkwardly away from each other. Guillermo is in the room now, but has one hand still on the doorknob and the other pulled protectively to his chest. Nandor has dropped his performative anger and looks very nervous.
4a. Close up on Guillermo, looking nervous but determined as he turns his gaze to the ground, starting, "Um...so..." Offscreen, Nandor interrupts, "Very well!" 4b. Matching Guillermos expression, Nandor continues, "We can commence with the yelling. I am ready." He steps forward and gestures Guillermo towards the loveseat, having dragged a cushioned wooden chair over for himself. 4c. Close up on Guillermo trying to mask his surprise, responding woodenly, "Oh. Okay." He thinks to himself, "He...actually wants to talk about it?" /end ID

my first photoshop animation EVER for my graphic design class!! :D i did the Virgin Mary & Jesus Christ <3
we were tasked with creating digital collages in line with the style of the Dada Movement which i will Not explain because i've already forgotten everything about it beyond vague emotions! i didn't really know what to do for mine so i went sorta the Basic Route and just did the bible LMAOOO however i think i missed a memo of some sort? everybody else was doing kooky fun fever dream things and mine was just... a downer......
this is abt mary and jesus and how bonkers insane it is to give birth to and raise a kid who you know is destined to Die For Humanity and how bonkers insane it is to be that kid. it makes me feel bad for mary!! and jesus especially!!!
to me, jesus is like fluttershy from MLP. that doesn't make sense. but i like this dude loads! he's endlessly kind!! hearing about how he gets bullied throughout the bible always made me :( for him... he felt very lonely! everybody dunked on him, his own hometown hated his guts, and even his own disciples didn't fully get him (like that one time he gave them literally One Thing to do and they just conked out on the spot. great job guys.)
i felt the absolute worst for him when he was up on that mountain (i forgot which) praying so hard he was sweating BLOOD in desperation for his dad to "pass on this cup" (ie. the burden of a martyr ie.ie. DYING) which showed how he didn't just smoothly selflessly accept his fate!! he was scared!!! and then he gets thrashed around and pinned up on a cross and dies from asphyxiation due to the head becoming too heavy to be supported by the neck or just infection or starvation or whatever!!!!! poor fella :(
anyways. about the animation.
beginning ballet - dont know what to tell you. i really love ballet. ballerinas are hardcore!! the dancer is mary and her little lamb is jesus!
falling tears - those are mary's!
two-headed lamb - i also don't know about this one... thought it looked cool LOL could represent how the rest of the world treated jesus with disgust... i really winged this project wahahaha
saturn devouring his son - the casual objectification of jesus throughout the bible really unsettled me. it was made very clear that the dude was basically a tool? and the dude himself admits it multiple times! that's effed. anyways, god sacrificing his own son reminded me of this goya painting hahaha since it's also father and son! "devouring" the sacrificial lamb / using him up
applause - because jesus went through all this hullabaloo the rest of humanity gets to frolic on, even the people who hated and beefed with jesus. so the applause is sorta like people expressing thanks? some of them are very superficial, not very grateful.....
sorry if this is blasphemous HAHAHA i don't know much abt the lore besides my own opinions formed from a single year of highschool bible class and my childhood memories of obsessing over this walmart kid's adaptation of the entire bible...
but animation is surprisingly super ultra fun!!!!! i thought it would involve a lot more crying?! animators always seem sorta tortured to me!

Kronii Devouring Her Sub
Kronii Ouro from Hololive. This is meant as a parody of Francisco Goya's Saturn Devouring His Son. To better match the style of the original work, I practiced digital oil and gouache painting again.

Other Unposted Commentaries
The Garden of Earthly Delights
it was the first historical art i was obessed with as a kid. there are sooo many details and i get lost in it so easily but in a good way, I love to get lost in this. (anonymous)
Saturn Devouring His Son
Goya had this shit painted on the walls of his house. Anyways this painting is very me very yummy human it really feeds into my desire to tear into human flesh and I also like the anguish on Saturn's face as he chomps into his son. Once I made cookies of the son so I could experience being Saturn yeah anyways this ones great if you love fucked up families and cannibalism (snowdoesntexist)
If "Saturn Devouring His Son" by Francisco Goya hasn't been submitted yet, someone's asleep. There is nothing about this painting that isn't disturbing. The dark background, the subject, the posture, the stark white of the eyes, the gaunt limbs, the hands digging into the back, just everything. Every time I remember this painting exists, I expect to meet him in a dark hallway and it's terrifying. (artemistakenidentity)
One art that fucks me up is Francisco Goya's "Saturn Devouring His Son".
Even without all the context of where the painting comes from, it fucks me up due to the contrast between the horrific act and Saturn's look of profound desperation as he commits it. (jackmusclescarier)
it is probably the only painting that legitimately frightens and unnerves me even through goofy ass recreations, like the "corporate art style" redraw of it and other parodies. just primal fear. (firebuug)
Judith Slaying Holofernes
judith slaying holofernes fucks me up in a good way (chaoticwhoknows)
Ivan the Terrible and His Son Ivan on 16 November 1581
cliche but ivan the terrible and his son ivan fucks me up in a sad way (chaoticwhoknows)
The Fallen Angel
Please for the love of all that is painful, do the Fallen Angel by Alexander Cabanal. (@myet33th)
-the teardrop says it all (unendingballofstress)
the tear the anger the skin the muscles the other angels in the sky leaving him his wings going from pure white to colored/black he's stretching preparing to Be Evil bc that is what god forced into him. betrayal <;3 (@that-one-queer-poc)
#art that fucks you up tournament#i would tag this with announcement but it's... not really...#bonus content

Artists Who Focus on Topics Related to My Theme:
Arnold Böcklin:
Top Left-Self Portrait with Death Playing The Fiddle (1872)
Top Right-Plague (1898)
Bottom-Island of the Dead (1880)
(Pictured Below)
Böcklin is a classic example of an artist who creates pieces which are Memento Mori, this especially comes through in his ‘Self Portrait with Death Playing the Fiddle’ wherein he is actively reminding himself of the inevitability of his own death. Since his pieces focus on death so often he uses a great amount of symbolism to convey these abstract ideas, he developed a knack for symbolism which would be copied later by metaphysical and surrealist artists in the coming years.
Francisco Goya:
Top-Witches’ Sabbath (1798)
Bottom Left-Saturn Devouring His Son (1823)
Bottom Right-Witches’ Flight (1798)
(Pictured below)
Francisco Goya was one of the most important Spanish painters of his time. He created many portraits for which he was renowned however his more personal style was one that focused much more heavily on religion and the occult, his pieces are often disturbing but carry a fantastical element and beautiful colours which make them interesting to look at and he is one of my favourite artists.
Zdzisław Beksiński:
Top Left-Untitled (Death on a Pale Horse) (Year Unknown c.1970s)
Top Right-Untitled ( (1970)
Bottom- Untitled (IN HOC SIGNO VINCES) (1974)
(Pictured below)
Beksiński is a polish painter who displays hellish surrealist paintings depicting elements of religious symbols. He makes paintings which are dark surrealist, baroque and gothic. He is influenced greatly by the atrocities of World War II and so elements of this can be seen in his work. The paintings are incredibly detailed and have great use of complimentary colours.
